A little more about us
We want to take a moment to extend a very warm welcome to everyone who is visiting our site. Whether you're just having a look, or are searching out for a place to worship, we're delighted to have you here. We hope you will visit and enjoy our member churches or any church in the beautiful coastal area of Brunswick County, North Carolina.
To give you some idea of what we're all about, here are some of our foundations. Our vision says:
We have heard the cry of our neighbors in need.
Through dedicated leadership, church and community involvement.
We are here to serve in love.
So first, we're all about Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was who He said He was, the Son of God who came and died for our sins. We hope that you know or get to know Him as we do, because He's truly what life is all about for us!
Second, we're all about people. Every person is important to us. As a group of God's people, we care about you and your family and we're here not only to feed you physically and spiritually, but to help in any way we can. We love doing it and it's why we exist!
The Lord's Food Pantry provides nutritious food, personal supplies and other items to those in need in Brunswick County that come to us regardless of income, faith or other criteria. The Pantry is a mission of the South Brunswick Interchurch Council. The SBIC is a collaboration of several local churches (14 at this writing) who strive to be the church of Jesus Christ to our neighbors in need from hunger to hope. Through our community partners, we provide food and nutritional education to inspire confidence and hope to Brunswick County families in need. The Lord's Food Pantry is a community of neighbors helping neighbors committed to ending hunger and supporting self-sufficiency.

Neighbors helping neighbors is part of a wider effort to combat food insecurity – lack of access to enough food for an active, healthy life. We volunteer our time and talents to demonstrate our shared beliefs in Christ-- being His hands and feet for the hungry, the poor, the homebound, and those in temporary crisis.

A Brief History of the Food Pantry
The South Brunswick Interchurch Council began in 1981. The original churches were Shallotte First Baptist, Camp United Methodist, St. James the Fisherman Episcopal and Calvary Baptist. At this time, Main Street in Shallotte was also US 17. The churches along Main Street were bombarded with transients, drifters and others in need of support. Included in those first organizers who sought to aid this population and encourage other churches' involvement were Katherine Shawver, Dr. Dan Smith, William Potts and Rev. and Mrs. Bill Greer.
The first food pantry was in a small back room of the old courthouse in Bolivia. In the early 1980’s, a Red and White Food Store became available in Bolivia and the SBIC food pantry moved there. Unfortunately, a hurricane demolished the store and the pantry moved to the location at Camp United Methodist Church where it operated for many years. The food pantry's name was changed to The Lords Food Pantry in 2019. In June 2022 the Pantry moved to its current location at 3610 Express Drive, Shallotte, NC and held the first distribution at that site on June 4th. We are so blessed to be able to serve our clients in this new location and in a larger building where all our supplies and food storage can be managed in the same space.
